She’s part model, part (self-described) fairy and part global stylist (she’s worked on Sex and the City – the holy style grail). When Irish Eimear Varian Barry isn’t hilariously vlogging (one view of her YouTube channel and you’ll want IN) her way around the world or modelling for Tiba + Marl’s latest lookbook shoot, she’s mother to Saoirse. This is one hot/cool mama.
Number of kids?
One. I want 25.
Worst mothering moment?
Baby-led weaning. Saoirse beginning her relationship with food. That first choke scare incident. We all remember them.
Best mothering moment?
The first day Saoirse crawled up to me, laid down on me, tucked her hands in under her chest, looked up at me and kissed me. Without being told “KISS?” I died.
Dinner party or play date?
Dinner party. Play dates are fun, but… dinner parties are much, much more fun.
Home or away?
Away! Home! No. Away! I am a nomad with a constant travel itch.
Can’t live without:
My apartment. I’m obsessed. It’s my workspace and my happy place. And it’s where we have our dance parties.
Can’t live with:
My mother.
What’s the last thing you bought?
Pint of milk in M&S in Waterloo before hopping on the train back to Surrey.
Last call?
HMRC calling me to let me know they’ve seen I’ve set up as a sole trader and that they’ve emailed me a start-up info pack. Cute!
Most pukka thing you own?
Saoirse? Do I own that?
Most annoying thing other mother’s say?
“It’s a girl, not a boy.” Said with evil eyes and devil tone of voice. Jesus. Sorry.
Modelling is…
Bit of prancin’ round with your hair and make-up done.
Mothering is…
The thing that saved me.
